About this deal

J-kun (Ito) and his fiancé A-ko (Ito’s later wife Ayako Ishiguro) have just moved in together, their new house is pristine and sparkling.

First there’s Mu a kitten who seems harmless enough, perhaps even cute, but then Mu is joined by A-ko’s full-grown cat Yon. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Despite being a dog person, J-kun finds himself purrsuaded by their odd cuteness and thus begins his comedic struggle to gain affection of his new feline friends.

His works are creepy, disturbing, spectacularly drawn, and always something I have never seen before. Ito had never considered himself a cat person before and found her first cat to have a bad vibe about him.

Eventually, unable to cope with her coy flirtation and their desire to possess Tomie completely, they are inevitably compelled to kill her — only to discover that, regardless of the method they chose to dispose of her body, her body will always regenerate. I've read almost everything of his that has been released in America (still waiting for my bf to finish one anthology so he can lend it to me). Thus ensues a long journey of a man trying desperately to make two moody cats adore him while also upholding the facade of not caring if they do or don't. But he soon finds himself lured in by the cuteness and wants the cat to love him as much as it does his wife. Ito used two main artistic styles throughout the manga: a realistic one and a horror-tinged one of exaggeration.

Junji Ito's Cat Diary appeared as an intermittent serial in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Magazine Z from 26 November 2007 [10] to 26 December 2008. Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1963, he was inspired from a young age by his older sister's drawing and Kazuo Umezu's comics and thus took an interest in drawing horror comics himself. In "Yon Attacks," J-kun dreads the arrival of Yon, whom he believes has cursed skull markings on his back. Horror comics author Junji Ito has recently purchased a new house and has decided to invite his girlfriend to move in with him. The cats scratch things, make messes, bite, make him feel unworthy, all the things that cats do and he's documented it here for our absolute enjoyment.

Appearing as a serial in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Magazine Z from November 2007 to December 2008, it follows the adventures of J-kun, a horror manga artist as he adjusts to life with cats: Yon, whom his fiancėe brings along to their new house, and Mu, a Norwegian Forest cat whom the couple adopts as a kitten. This makes a story about living with cute cats somehow applicable to a dramatic and grotesque style of art.Son las 5 am, y tuve que contener la risa en varias ocasiones porque no sabría explicarle a mi novio que lo desperté a carcajadas porque vi una ilustración de Junji cayendo sobre el moco de su propio gato. Kodansha USA announced that it had obtained the manga's license at the 2015 Anime Boston convention, [13] and published the English-language translation in North America on 27 October 2015. A-ko's appearance, with her almost entirely white eyes, has also been noted to share similarities with yokai, supernatural Japanese entities. Junji Ito, as J-kun, has recently built a new house and has invited his financée, A-ko, to live with him. Faustine Lillaz of Planete BD, in contrast, wrote that the humor of the manga would have a wide appeal.
