About this deal

The finish of these topcoats is usually matt or satin however we have several products that finish in gloss. Not all jobs require a topcoat, however if the timber is external or internal in a high moisture environment, then YES you will need a topcoat. HW02 and Pyroplast Wood T ALWAYS require topcoats. These combine the protection of fire retardant paints with fire resistant paints to provide the highest fire safety.

NFPA 286/UL 1715- These tests are often the go-to “defacto room corner tests” and are best for interior testing. The general test room is an 8 foot by 12-foot room with open or closed cell spray foam.Intumescent paint is a newer method and works by growing and forming a barrier when exposed to extreme heat. Also tested to EN 1364 – 1: 1999 on 20mm Norway spruce shiplap cladding, achieving 66-minutes resistance. While both formulas have their benefits and disadvantages, the general fireproofing industry often recommends intumescent paint for the majority of common applications. Cementitious paints are not the best for aesthetic appeal and can add weight, while intumescent paints blend into the visuals of the project. With over 50 years of combined experience in the passive fire protection industry, International Passive Fire Ltd provides independent estimating services for all intumescent coatings/paints for timber and wood derivatives. A water-based product to apply over existing paint, varnish or wax surfaces, before applying other coatings. For INTERNAL use.

When it comes to colour, the current most popular options are white and grey paint for an ultra modern and clean look, ideal for frequently changing rooms. A paints finish will affect the overall appearance, feel, and durability of your paint, so it’s important to understand the differences to achieve your desired aesthetic. Matt paint has a non-reflective finish, chalk paint has a matt, shabby-chic finish, while eggshell paint is low-sheen and durable. Additionally, satinwood paint has a subtle sheen and is great for interior woodwork, while gloss paint is high-shine and ideal for exterior woodwork and metal surfaces. However, these paints and coatings are typically not appropriate for critical infrastructure like steel. For most projects that involve structural steel or other critical infrastructure, you’ll need an ASTM E-119-certified fire resistant paint. Please note, this product may appear to be white in the tin, however it dries clear when applied under the correct conditions. Used to protect timber and timber related materials such as softwood, hardwood, hardboard, chipboard, plywood, MDF (both fire rated and non-fire rated), bamboo and melamine faced boards.

Commercial and domestic environments, including: airports, restaurants, railways stations, housing, flats, shopping centres, community housing, ceilings, etc. We’ve partnered with top-rated fire resistant coatings suppliers that can provide a free consultation and paint specifications. Fire Resistant Paint for Metal Those familiar with the fire triangle will be aware that a fire needs three elements to spread; heat, oxygen and fuel. Using fire retardant paints in your home or office fights fire in two ways. It protects your surface, reducing the amount of fuel available to the fire, thus removing the third element of the fire triangle and slowing the fire spread considerably. Fire-resistant paints work by creating a barrier against flames. Most of these coatings are intumescent paints, which work by forming a char layer on the substrate when met with flames. These paints are often applied to steel, timber, and plasters to avoid burning and destruction. This paint works by creating gas bubbles that strengthen the paint’s additives when met with flames. When used on steel and timber, the foaming char layer works to add time before flames can penetrate through the substance. These fire retardant qualities can delay the spread of the fire in your home by anything from 30 minutes up to 3 hours allowing fire services additional time to get flames under control and reduce the extent of fire damage in your home. Does Fire Retardant Paint Actually Work?Intumescent Paint and Fire Retardant coatings are suitable for use on most structural building materials such as: Protect externally treated surfaces from exposure to weather for 48 hours immediately after application
