Here are four close-mic measurements (about an inch from the driver) of the SVS SB-1000 Pro, taken from slightly different positions I’m particularly impressed with how the SB-1000 Pro can serve music lovers by turning 2.0 systems into 2.1 systems. The sub also has stereo RCA inputs plus outputs, offering another path for systems that don’t have dedicated subwoofer outputs. While that should be more than enough for most people, we would note that we did sometimes have trouble getting volume worked with our system. Either things were a little too soft, or too loud. There didn’t seem to be a middle ground. The SB-1000 Pro might be small, but it's perfectly formed with a pleasing low-end punch that's sure to delight bass fans. My room is fairly large but, even so, the SVS did an excellent job of energising the lower frequencies and filling the space. I'd probably go for two if I was installing the SB1000 in my home cinema, but even one sub handles the volume well. I normally use a pair of MK Sound V12s, so the little SVS has a tough baseline to perform against.

It is perhaps a little cruel to say that if you’ve seen one SVS subwoofer you’ve seen them all. Yet the Ohio outfit definitely have a house look, and although the SB-2000 Pro offers several significant changes, the looks aren’t one of them. The design of the housing is identical to the now-discontinued SB-2000, as is the size and the choice of finishes.
