About this deal

An alternate title for these releases is "Kiss The Go-Goat" which appears on both sides of the single.

Ghost - Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic | Releases | Discogs

Kiss The Go-Goat and Mary On A Cross are good songs, but neither of them does anything Ghost haven't done better elsewhere. While Prequelle saw Ghost taking on their sleekest production to date, Seven Inches of Satanic Panic pulls the reigns back a bit and injects a bit more roughness into the mix to provide a 1960s psychedelia throwback.Similar to the video for "Kiss the Go-Goat", it features grainy, Super 8-like footage that is purported to be of Ghost performing in Los Angeles on 13 September 1969.

The vinyl release peaked at number 2 on the UK Vinyl Singles Chart, [10] whilst "Kiss the Go-Goat" reached number 4 on the Kerrang! From the release of the 2018 album Prequelle and subsequent world tour, Forge portrayed a character known as "Cardinal Copia", who is described as being unrelated to any of the Papa Emeritus characters and whose costume consists of either Cardinal vestments or a black or white tuxedo alongside a prosthetic mask with black eye makeup and the multi-colored eyes which had been present in each Papa character. Ghost once again makes a pretty good tribute to some old rock tunes; they make it so in a way that keep us fans interested giving both of the songs from the project their own 'touch', making this not just a pointless revisit to 60's psychedelia wave, but a re-imagination of this era's attributes with their bloomy satanic approach. Credited as "two special tracks from the 1969 archives", even though the group formed in 2006; both the anthemic crunch of, 'Kiss the Go-Goat', and fan favourite, 'Mary On A Cross', have become essential staples of the Ghost banner, while the project served as a much-needed building block and source of replenishment following 2018's Prequelle. According to Ghost's fictional backstory, Seven Inches of Satanic Panic contains two songs that were written and recorded by an early incarnation of the band in 1969, when Papa Emeritus Nihil was the vocalist.

Their music is oftentimes psychedelic rock too, which is a huge part of this EP, given its two song time length, it still works well and is pretty good. On 12 September 2019, Ghost released a music video for "Kiss the Go-Goat", which depicts Papa Nihil performing as frontman of the band at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, California, in 1969. Not so much this track itself, more so their sound as a whole — which is great I’d say, if you ask me. It was released on 7" vinyl, with "Kiss the Go-Goat" as the A-side and "Mary on a Cross" as the B-side, [9] on 27 September 2019. I guess I can't complain, as I like both songs, but this release doesn't seem very necessary except for the narrative around it.

The character, which consists of Forge in a prosthetic mask and makeup, can be best described as a 'demonic anti-pope'. Sweden is six hours ahead of us, but that still puts them three-and-a-half hours away from tomorrow, which I’m guessing is when this thing will actually be available. Even with the more prominent organ and goofy delay effects, however, it's the same Ghost-tier songwriting one would come to expect from one of their releases.
